Sat., May 22, 2010

Babysat the kids in the evening while Mom and Dad went to the Ballet to see Black and White.  I love that and Brand really wanted Paul to see it.  So I watched the kids and they went on a date.
The kids and I made sun catchers and then watched videos and then off to bed.

Friday May 21, 2010

Today was a long day with the kids.  Brand was grading final's and entering grades while Paul was on a field trip with his fellow dental students.  Oz and I ran errands until Jay got out of school.  From there we headed off to the beach.  We stayed there until 6.  The kids were playing with other children and just have so much fun, I didn't have the heart to leave.  Jay went into the water, she loves it, and got knocked over by a small wave.  She did real good in handling it,  She got up and just laughed.  But later in the car she told me it scared her.  We went to McD's for dinner and then home to my house for baths.  After baths we took them home to their parents.  I had a fun filled day.  This is a rare picture of their Uncle Scott who was helping me dry and dress kids in PJ's.

May 20, 2010

Had a real lazy day today.  Just enjoyed the weather.  It was absolutely gorgeous.  I went out for lunch to quiznos and Starbucks.  Took my lunch over the the Mystic River Boat Ramp and sat on a bench and ate my lunch.  this was my view.

A drizzle day so Oz and I went off to his favorite place to play...the indoor playland.  They had some new
things to play on....mini trampolines, exercise bikes and treadmills for kids.  Oz had a blast.  He finally figured out how to make the treadmill work. Here he is on the trampoline.

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

I usually have Tuesday off from grandkids but Oz had a field trip to go see the Public works vehicles with his pre-school.  So I met them there.   They got to sit on different trucks and hear a lady read stories to them.  Then they all caught the city bus and went back to the school.  Quite an adventure for 3 year olds.

Mon. May 17, 2010

I went to the Dentist and had my favorite Dentist (Paul, my son-in-law) work on my tooth.  Actually he did surgery and I got 3 stitches.  He had to smooth out the bone in my jaw line.  No it didn't hurt.  Then I picked up Jay as she was still have the Rocky Mountain Two Step and she came over to my house.  She picked up my garden flag and was marching around and acting silly.

May 15, 2010

Jay wanted to hang out with me for the day and so Paul took Oz to the Children's museum.  In the afternoon I picked them up and we went to Astronomy Day at a school in Chestnut Hill.  They had kite flying, telescopes, robots, sedgways, and other stuff to see.  Paul tried in vain to get the kite up for the kids but it was a losing proposition.  From there Oz went and saw the robot which scared him because it had no face.  Jay and I went to ride the sedgeway.  Fun day for all.

May 14, 2010

We saw these baby gosslins and had to stop to take a picture.  They are so cut.

May 13, 2010

I was so intrigued with the shadow on my wall.  It was coming in from outside.  It is my swing that is on the front porch.

May 12, 2010

After picking up Jay from school, we went over the Science Club for Girls and she went to class.  Oz and I played in the playground.  After class, Jay joined us.  She and Oz had so much fun playing on the slide.

May11, 2010

No picture today not that I didn't try.  I took the kids to Fort Independence in So. Boston.  My Camera was DEAD!  So a note to myself, check the battery on the camera before you set out to go someplace.

PS.  I was so surprised when I uploaded pictures that one picture came out from our trip to the fort.  Here the kids and I are eating a snack.  Well they actually had a lunch again at three.  LOL.  It was an overcast day but they enjoyed it.

I was really impressed with the cost of the food there.  It was very reasonable.  This fort is located near the end of the Logan Airport and so planes were taking off and they were so close to us.  The kids thought that was neat.

May 10, 2010

I picked Jay up and we went to Starbucks to hang out because we only get about an  hour now before we have to go pick up Oz.

Jay is getting silly now when I take pictures of her.  She likes to make faces.  We didn't get to stay long as Scott's boss called and we had to go get her Uncle and get him to work and then go pick up the Oz Man.

May 7, 2010

Friday.  Oz and I decided we would go find Castle Beach where they have a fort and it is on the beach.  So off we went.  On our drive to So Boston, we saw these strange planes flying overhead.  When we got to the road to go to the Castle Beach, we found a whole battalion of soldiers, the weird airplanes, helicopters, tanks, amphibians, etc.  All on the park lawn and beach area.  Well I tried to find a place to park but it ended up a good 2 miles away.  But being the undaunted Grandma that I am, I got Oz and the stroller out and off we started.  After 15 min, I decided it was too far away to walk and so back to the car we went.  Oz in the mean time fell asleep.  We drove back to where the action was and found a place to park. YEAH.  So Oz got to go see the weird airplane and go inside it.

I am glad that we got to see some of this.  They were setting up for some show that was going to be on Sat.  We never made it to Castle Beach and the fort.  Guess we will have to go another day.

May 6, 2010

I drove up to NH to see my friend and to see how the car was working for a long trip.  Not that it was that long, she only lives 42 miles away.  But I could see how the car behaved and it was fine.  Whew, that was a relief.  We had a small leak to the radiator and I guess we fixed it or Scott fixed it.  Anyways, on my way home, I went a round about way from my friend's house when I left.  I ended up going by this house with this carving.  The tree had fallen down apparently and the guy used what was left to carve this.

May 5, 2010

It is an Ozzie day and we decided we would go to the beach after I ran a few errands.  He had so much fun.  We dug a hole and I had to drag the water up f rom the ocean so he could dump it into the hole and watch it disappear.  He laughed and laughed.  The he discovered that his crocs would float in the water in the hole.  That made him laugh even more.  Ahhhhh the laughter of a child is music to the ears.

May 10, 2010

Tuesday.  The sun is shining and my Irises have bloomed.  BUT, I thought I bought the purple variety and instead I have these brown ones.  They still are pretty.

May 9, 2010

Jay is  now a Daisy Scout and I picked her up from her girl scout meeting.  they have Daisy's, brownies and girl scouts all in one group.  Jay just loves it.

Here she is doing the traditional pass the hand squeeze around the circle.

May 2, 2010

Today was very hot and muggy.  90 degrees temp and just gorgeous.  But this evening it was still muggy and clouds are coming in.  We might have some lightning and a summer rain a little early.  I call it a summer rain because it is so warm outside.  Not cold at all.

May 1st, 2010

Now that Jay is going to girl scouts on Mondays, I don't get as much time with her on our only grandma day together.  So Brand asked me to take her in the morning and Paul and Oz could do their own thing.  So Jay and I went to IHop for breakfast.  Then we went by the art studio to see her art work.  The school gets to display the kids art there.  But it was closed, so I took a picture through the window.  Jay had done a self-portrait.  I thought it was a great drawing for a 5 year old.

April 30, 2010

With Brand out of town, I picked Paul, Jay and Oz up and we took Jay to school and then took Paul to school.  Then Oz and I played for the rest of the day.  At 2 we went to get his sister at school.  He fell asleep, which means I have to get the stroller out and put him in so he can sleep while we pick his sister up.
Then we went to Jay's girls' science club meeting.  While Jay was there, Oz and I played outside.  The school also uses the playground and Oz usually is Mr. Shy.  He found some ants crawling along the ground and was quite fascinated with them. He then went into the boat play thing and stands there and says "Stop, LIsten,  Be quiet"  He is saying this with his arms out to the side.  He is also brave enough to be saying it to Kindegarten/1st graders.  They ignored him at first.  He shouted again.  They stopped, looked at him, and resumed their activities.  Had to give him credit to speak up.  He then says Stop again and no one is paying any attention to him.........He says  "There are ants over there!"

April 29th, 2010

I took Brand to the airport for her trip to Toronto.  Jay had left her umbrella on the bus on Tues. and The bus co. called Brand on  our way and told her they had it.  So I said I would go and pick it up.  I was surprised at how small the office was.  It was like a trailer with two people working there.  I got her care bear umbrella and her Uncle Scott took it over to her that evening.  This is the bus yard.

April 28, 2010

Oz and I went to the indoor play ground because we had sprinkles again.  He is very concerned about his Mommy taking a trip to Toronto on thursday.   So he dressed up in the pilot costume and got into the plane and said he was Mommy's pilot and he will fly her there.  He makes a really cool pilot with attitude.

April 21, 2010

Today we went to the indoor playland because it was still wet outside and still drizzling.  The kids love this place because it has so many things for them to play with.

They were both playing in the little house and Jay had ironed the baby blanket so of course Oz had to also iron the blanket.  But sister is instructing him how to do it.  I love this place.

April 22, 2010

I bought these towels for the two kids that have hoods on them and then go over their body like a poncho.  The kids love them.  Jay wears hers every where.  The sun is gone and we now have sprinkles and so Jay is doing a rain dance.

April 21, 2010

Wed.  Both kids are with me today.   It is still warm and so off tot he beach we go again.  Daddy packed the lunches for the kids and they had the largest strawberries I have ever seen.  Jay tried to surf on the boogie board in the shallow water.  It was so cute to see her balancing on the board.  Of course when she stepped on the board, it sank down to the sand and she wasn't really going anywhere.  lol.  They flew kites or rather Oz's kite was the only one that even got off the ground.  The ice cream man came into the beach area and grandma treated them to an ice cream and then home we went.

April 20, 2010

It is spring break for Jay so I have her all week.  Jay and I went to the beach.  The sun kept hiding behind clouds but when it came out  it was very warm.

Jay loves going in the water.  She finally leaned down so far that her skirt was in the water.  So she took her skirt off and went in her undies.

April 19, 2010

Monday Patriot's Day   Brand, Jay, Oz and I went to
Concord to see the parade.  Here is a group of
militia men dressed int he original costumes.  All over
they had reenactments of battles through Concord and
Lexington.  The kids had so much fun.

April 15, 2010

Today Jay went on a field trip to the Franklin Zoo.  Here they are getting on the bus.  I went as a chaperone but had to go in my own car.  I met the bus there and I was assigned two kids, Jay and Halena.
We had so much fun.  The girls decided where we go because they knew how to read the zoo map.  Off to see the gorilla's first.  It was a wonderful 3 hr. trip.

April 14, 2010

Wednesday is a Oz day and then I pick up Jay at school and take them home.  There Jayis dancing with her teddy dressed up in Ariel's costume.

April 13, 2010

This is Teemu.  Sshe is a very quiet cat.  When my brother and his wife passed away I inherited her.  She really was Thom's cat so she has taken to my son Scott.  She goes where ever he goes. and only allows him to pet her and play with her.  Me, she tolerates!

April 12, 2010

Monday and it is a Jay day.   I picked her up as school and we went to my house and she played.  Then we went to get her brother.  I love how they greet each other and then just have to go together.  this is them leaving the day care center running to the parking lot.

April 11, 2010

YEAH!  My Tulips are blooming.  They look so small.  My Daffy's are starting to whither so seeing the
tulips is ao refreshing.

April 10, 2010

It rained yesterday and I forgot my camera when I went to get Jay for Science Club.  Today I went for my usual walk and found these cute statues sitting in the shade.

April 8, 2010

The temps took a dip for the cool end.  But all the trees have just burst into color and the streets look so lovely.

I forget what kind of trees these are but almost all the streets here are lined with them.  Soon they will be all green.

April 7, 2010

Another beautiful day and Oz came over.  what do you do on a warm day.  We spray Grandma's car.  Oz brought his two wheeler over and we did go to the park.  He really gets the braking down perfect but the pedaling is still lost to him.  So naturally on the way home, I had to drag the bike while he walked.  Oh well, such is life.  As the day got warmer, we got the spray bottles out and washed the outside of the house and my car.  Well Oz did, I washed the windows on the house.  He loves doing this.

April 6, 2010

The garden is starting to spring up with spring flowers.  Here is one of my lovely daffy's.

April 5, 2010

It was an absolutely gorgeous day today.  I picked Jay up at school and we hung out at my house.  Then we went to pick up her brother at pre-school.  They were out in the play yard having a Red Sox party.  Oz picked up the big baseball bat and wanted his sister to pitch the ball to him.  Well her aim is not the best and his swinging is not the swiftest but lo and behold, she got the pitch in and Oz hit that ball for a home run.   YEAH OZ AND JAY.  Bostonians love there Red Sox's so much that they celebrate when they win.  Jay's school had a hot dog party for lunch and the hot dogs and rest of the food faire was provided by someone.  The whole school celebrates.  Ozzie's school was celebrating too.  This is unheard of in Cal.

LOL, I almost snapped the hit.

April 4, 2010

Happy Easter.  Went to Brand's for brunch and to wish the kids Happy Easter and to hunt for eggs in the back yard.  Paul (The dentist to be, let the kids have chocolate for breakfast.) I got the kids Zhu Zhu pets.  They had a ball with them.

April 3, 2010

It's amazing here in New England.  I never know what I will see.  It is so different from So. Calif.  Here is a tree all decked out in plastic eggs for Easter.

Some people decorated with cloth stuffed eggs.  The school had some of those.  Here this decoration is and right on the sidewalk and not one person walking by wrecked it.  They just let it be for all to enjoy.

April 2, 2010

Zoo day.  Jay has the day off from school so I get Oz and her.  So off to the zoo we went.  We went to the Stone Zoo in Stoneham.  They have two brother bears there that we like to visit.  The kids were hilarious.  They ran all around and appeared to not even care to see the animals at all.  We went to the discovery center where Jay worked on puzzles and Oz did puppetry and puzzles.  From there we went and had ice cream and then went to the Dino dig.   Here they are digging for dinosaur bones.

This is a fun spot for them.  They get to work in the sand uncovering different parts of the dinosaur.

April 1, 2010

I tried to think up some frivolous prank I could play on Scott for April Fool's Day but I couldn't.  I didn't go to NH today and my friend, Judy could not come down.  We have to conserve on our finances.  So I ran errand.  I went and payed bills and decided to reward myself with my favorite drink.

Grande Mocha Frappichino through the blender twice with whip cream

March 31, 2010

Ozzie Day.  Ozzie put a puzzle together all by himself.  He is getting good at them.  Then he decided to sing for me.

It's raining
It's pouring
The old man is snooring
Bump his head
went to bed
didn't get up in the
mornin

He is so funny because when he gets bored with playing at the house he tells me he has to get his energy out and needs to go to an indoor play place.  So we went off to Burger King for a few hours.

March 30, 2010

Stop Raining Please!  Hannah loves to go out only if I go out with her.  Well the weather has not been really nice enough for us to be out doors and she really doesn't like the  rain.   Here she is, just standing there, not liking the rain at all.  (Me, I am getting wet just to get her picture)  She turned around and ran back inside.

The rain has been so bad here in MA.  I am very lucky to live here in Medford because we were not flooded like many other cities.  This has been the worse rain in about 70 years.  Now we are scheduled for warm weather.  YEAH!!

March 29, 2010

Bonnie took me over to this house because she wanted to show me how unusual it was.

It is a museum with a store but it is only opened by appointment only.  It's roof is like what you see in story books that the fairies live in.  The rocks going up the side are actually part of the house's wall.  You expect to see fairies and elves walking around.  It was very interesting.   My friend had happen upon this place by accident and it was opened for her and she found a small lamp with a fairy on it.  She has it in her hall way by the stairs in her home.  Maybe someday when I come back to visit we can see if it is opened.  I would love to go inside.

March 28, 2010

Today we went to the Norman Rockwell Museum and I guess I probably should have taken a picture of the building.  I really enjoyed the museum and seeing his art work.  From there we went to visit her son and her granddaughters.  They are so cute.  But the thing that captured my attention were the ducks that were in their yard.

I kept saying they look like geese.  ONe was but the others were not.  They are a strange breed of ducks that the man across the street buys from Canada as babies and raises them to adulthood and then releases them.  None of the neighbors seem to mind except one.  They feed them.  I have never seen black long neck  ducks.  Maybe when warm weather comes and Jeff lets her little girls out to play and there is duck poo there, maybe they won't like them either.   Time will tell.  I know one of the problems we have here in the city is with the canada geese and there poo.  There is so many of them that some of the parks that the geese have taken over is terrible for the kids to play in.

March 27, 2010

Off to Great Barrington, MA.  I have been trying to hook up with my Sorority sister since I moved here 1 1/2 years ago.  It seems like every time we would set a date, something would intervene and we would have to cancel.  Seeing that she still works, her time off is limited.  So finally we found a week end that worked for both of us.  We met at the outlet stores in Lee and of course had to shop around.  Found some neat things for the kids.

We both agree that having grandkids is the best thing in the whole worlds.  From there we went to her house, unloaded the car and then went out to dinner at a lovely place in Lennox, MA.

March 20, 2010

Beautiful weather today and so I went for a ride.  I went up to Lexington and stopped to see the colonists playing on the drum and fife in the common square area.

It is so interesting here in New England because people dress up in the colonist clothing and march around the various towns and downtown Boston.  I don't know if they volunteer for this or get paid for it.  But it is nice to see.  It was so war that people were lying on the grass and just enjoying the day.

I went to Brand's to watch the kids in the evening so that they could go out on a date.  This is Jay being a rock star.

She was so funny because she was throwing her body every where and then she fell down on her bed.  She sits up and says "that is what real rock stars do"!
